Dealing With Sales Rejection
The first thing every sales person has to do in order to be successful is getting over the fear of rejection. Rejection is something that is part of sales. Fear of rejection can be crippling because it’s fearing something that will happen often.
The first step in getting over the fear of rejection is to acknowledge that’s it’s going to happen. In fact, it’s going to happen quite often. Every salesperson should come to grips with this and in so doing they should also realize that it’s not them, it’s the business of sales.
Once a salesperson understands that rejection is just a part of the business then they can begin to move past the rejections and focus more on their successes. Salespeople can even use their rejections to help make them better at selling. They should learn from their failures. Turning their failures into something positive is another step in getting over the fear of rejection.
The first few times a salesperson is rejected can be pretty hard to take. But as long as a salesperson can move past the first few, getting over the fear of rejections will become easier. The more it happens the easier it will become.
Probably the hardest part of sales is getting rejected so often. However, it’s part of the job but it’s not what should be focused on. The sales should be the focus. After all, it’s called sales not rejections. Once a salesperson gets this then they will have no problem getting over the fear of rejection.
